Have you ever dreamt of being a part of aviation history? Maurice M. Guitton has fulfilled that dream. Interested in engineering in 1963, at the age of 19, he enrolled at a technical school for mechanical engineering where he received the knowledge and training in the domain he was truly passionate about. Encouragement drove him to excel even further. In 1967, he started working at Rossignol Skis Company in France, of which manufactures composites. Composites are materials used in aerospace technology to fabricate components ranging from aircraft panels to solar panels. Over the years leading up to 1974, he became manager of the plant. Impressed by his performance, amongst 40 promising candidates, Maurice was selected to travel to Vermont, USA to start the first manufacturing plant in North America. In the same year, the first plant was erected. Due to the success of the plant, a second was built two years later, then a third in 1977 and finally a fourth in 1978. A year later, he was made head of all four plants in North America. In 1987, he was recruited by Cellpack Aerospace with the objective of starting an aerospace organization in Canada. He was in charge of overseeing the development and operation of the plant from top to bottom, while in direct communication with the board of directors. From 1993 to 2003, he was executive Vice President and President of Composites Atlantic Limited and then in 2004 he became CEO of the company. Maurice has many awards under his belt, including the export achievement awards in 1999 and the Atlantic Canada top 50 CEO’s also in 1999. To date, he is still the CEO of Composites Atlantic Limited, working with customers such as Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier. He belongs to many professional associations, where he mentored people by sharing some of his experience and knowledge. His life example teaches us to follow our dream no matter what by working hard towards our goals, and promoting work ethic.
